10/2/10
I won't be updating this page as it is easier to update Facebook. Please check there for the latest info. And, if all you really care about is the latest glass bling, check out my Etsy store. Thanks! Teresa
1/23/09
Three months since my last update! Argh. Can you tell that I really don't like to update my site? Sorry about that. I know that you are all just waiting with bated breath for every detail from my so exciting life! Ha! Anyhow, I'm sick. Got the stomach flu from my grandaughter. So, since I can't really do anything more than ginger ale and the little girl's room, I thought I would come in here and update my blog!
I'm currently working on my schedule for 2009 and hope to have at least a rough draft up by this weekend. I will let you know that I plan to do the New Mexico Challenge show in Santa Fe on the plaza, and the art fair in Durango Colorado, the Arts and Crafts fair at La Cueva High School, and the Calvary Chapel Christmas art fair. I'm sure there will be others. I also plan to do a couple of studio open houses where I will give flameworking demos and have super special discounts for attendees. And, possibly a North Valley art fair in my yard later in the summer or fall. Oh, I almost forgot, I now have several of my jewelry pieces, my hairstix and knitting needles at Ziggy and Zoe's in Nob Hill. It's right behind Kelly's on Central. My beads and cabochons are here at my home studio and online in my etsy shop.
Thanks for stopping by! Please drop me a line, I love to hear from customers, friends and family! I hope you have a great weekend! And I hope you don't catch what I've got!!
10/10/08
- Well I can't sleep so I think I will
take this early morning quiet time to update my blog. I know, I
know, "About time!" Sorry it takes me so long. I always
seem to have something more pressing to do.
- The summer went fast, it is already
October which means Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque. We are having
great weather this year! The Balloon Fiesta runs the 1st two
weekends of October, and we usually have some kind of weather situation
that interferrs with the festivities. This year we had rain on
one day and had to cancel the launch. But every other day has
been fantastic. See below for pics I shot yesterday morning from
my back yard! We live very near the balloon fiesta grounds so the
balloons usually fly right over our home if the wind is blowing the
right way.
- We went to Tucson last month for the 1st
Annual Flame Off. Rashan, a fellow glass artist in
Albuquerque talked me into entering the competition. I
didn't win but it was a great experience and I learned a lot! You
can see what I and the other competitors made on the Crystal Myths web site.
After the competition, they held a silent auction and sold all
the pieces that were made. 1/2 of the sale was donated to the
Sonoran School of Glass Art in Tucson and the other 1/2 was given to
the artist. I made a set of beads rather than one large focal.
I didn't think they were all that good. But I received a
check so someone must have liked them!
- We also had Amara's 2nd birthday party in
August. We took her to the zoo and then we had a picnic lunch at
Christina's Grandma's house. Amara had a great time. We got
her a kids play laptop. She loved it. see pics below.
- We also did the Art Show in Durango.
That was a really nice show in a beautiful little town! We
will plan to do that show again. We took a week of vacation after
the show and went camping in Colorado in the Womenuchi wilderness.
Gorgeous! We had a full week of just us laying in the
hammock, hiking, laying in the hammock, etc! It was so nice!
- For the last 2 weeks I have been off my
home healthcare job because Leslie was approved for a stay in the Rehab
hospital. She is doing great there! So, I have been
spending my time in the studio making new beads and working on taking
photos for my online store. I've been trying to load at least 2
new beads or sets into my store every day. However, I would much
rather make beads that list them, so, I may never catch up!
- I was accepted to the La Cueva show again
this year. It is the only other show I have scheduled before the
end of the year. If you have Christmas presents you want to get
and you can't come to that show, please contact me and I can do a private showing just for you and your friends! Or,
you can come by my studio for a free demo. I also have some of my
art at a new gallery in town, The Wooden Cow.
It's a new gallery in the Mossman Center on Montgomery next to
the Nob Hill Gallery. (if you go to the Wooden Cow, I wouldn't take my
kids--there is some nude art that you may not want your kids to see.)
- Starting next week. I will move
from part-time babysitter to full-time babysitter. Christina
begins a new job and they want her to work full-time. So, my
schedule will be a little tighter, but I will have so much fun playing with and teaching Amara!
So, enough with all the news, without further ado, here are the
pics!

- Wow, I really let time pass since my last
update (not really my fault, I was having technical difficulties with
accessing the files on my web server...blah, blah, blah). I have
lots of updates but it is one in the morning and I have to work
tomorrow. So, I'm just popping in to say that I have entered a
new post to my spiritual blog.
It is the first chapter of my first book. I would love it
if you would read it and let me know your honest opinion along with any
constructive criticism.
- Check back soon for an update on my latest adventures and pictures of my granddaughter (she will be 2 this month).
6/18/08
- Happy Father's Day to all the dads!
It's been over a month since I updated my blog. Now that
doesn't mean that I've been lazin' around doin' nothin'. I was
busy getting ready for my first show of the season, New Mexico
Challenge in Santa Fe on the Plaza. We had a nice spot with lots
of shade. However, I still managed to get a sun burn. It
was a lot of fun. We had guy next to us who made and sold Native
American flutes. So, we got to hear flute music all weekend.
It was nice.
- I update my myspace page more regularly than this page. I guess because all the
familia is over there and I check in there regularly to see what
everyone is up to. I have it set to private, but just request me
as a friend and I will approve you. I had some weird guy buggin'
me there, so I had to set it to private.
- I've had several sales in my Etsy store.
That is so cool. I even got a picture from a jewelry artist
showing me what she created from a bead, Ivory Pools, that she bought
in my Etsy Store. Here's what she created and a link to her web
site.
|
Kelley Pounds is the jewelry artist. You can check out her art in her Etsy store. Thanks for the picture Kelley. You did a fabulous job on the design and wire work! |
Here is a photo of my booth in Santa Fe. The first photo was
Saturday's set up. Then we changed it on Sunday so we could sit
on the other side of the booth and not be so much in the sun. |
|
|
Here is a pic of Amara. She's getting to be so big. I get her on
Mondays and Wednesdays this semester. She's saying more and more words
and is developing her own unique personality. She is unbelievably good! |
5/12/08
- Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!
I had a nice mother's day. Christina and Amara came over,
we BBQ'd and watched Mary Poppins! It was a very relaxing day!
Also, I talked to my mom who was up in Oregon with her boyfriend
(who I did not know about). She told me that she is getting
married. What?!?! She sounds happy. I talked to him
for a second and he sounds like a nice guy! I'm happy for her!
Christina and I have both been praying for a mate for her!
Woo Hoo! I love answered prayers! (hopefully he
doesn't run when he sees what a pack rat she is! LOL!)
- I've been making knitting needle tops and
wine stoppers. I've also been adding new listings to my Etsy
store. I really need to get busy and make jewelry for the show in
Santa Fe next month.
- The show at the Arts Alliance Gallery was
good. I sold several bead sets and focal beads. My new
tumbled hollows were very well received! I guess I need to make
more of those!
- I got accepted to the Durango Art Show in
August. I also am trying out for the Tucson Bead show in
September. Not sure of the cost of that one yet--it may be out of
my price range. I would like to go to the Tucson show though
because they are holding an international flame off! Fun!
Also there will be a ton of demos which are always cool.
- Can you believe the price of gas and
diesel????!!!! Not sure if we will be able to drive anywhere
this year! Ah well, it could always be worse!
- The garden is partially planted.
The tomato plants are in and the peas. I still need to
plant a cherry tomato plant, the eggplant, squash, onions and peppers
4/21/08
- I have been crazy busy making beads,
jewelry and usable items. My next show is in June on the Santa Fe
Plaza and I want to be sure to have plenty of new designs to choose
from. Here are some of my wine stoppers that I have been
creating. I really like this style (without the center post and
top nob).
3/25/08
- Wow! Well I guess it has been a
while since I wrote something in my blog. I have been a busy
girl. Mostly hanging out with Leslie which has been so good for
me. I really enjoy being with her. There is something to be
said for a woman who always smiles despite the rebellion of her body!
- She's on vacation now in Florida. I
miss her. And then she's off to El Salvadore to a homeopathic
clinic that treats cancer patients. She is currently cancer free.
But they do have experience with the side effect/syndrome that
she has (you can read more about that on her page).
So, we are praying that they will make great improvements in her
motor skills. Her brother lives there and she will be there for 3
weeks. So between Florida and El Salvadore, she will be gone for
about 4 weeks.
- Yesterday I spent about 8 hours in the
studio at the torch and I felt really creative and productive! I
also spent time creating a brochure to jump start my in-state
advertising and hopefully get some local wholesale accounts for my art.
Today I spent about 3 hours in the studio and several hours
working on my etsy store. Amara is here now, so I am babysitting until
about 8 tonight.
- So, I am keeping myself busy. I
have a few orders that I am working on filling. Some wine
stoppers and some bead sets. But mostly I am just playing with
colors and designs--finding my groove and exploring some grooves I
didn't know I had. LOL!
- I hope you have a great week! And,
if you are in the area and would like to come by Friday around 6pm, I
am having a Pampered Chef party. Just call me and I will give you
directions! 505.730.0556. Also, here are some Amara
pictures from Easter. The last two are of her totally wired and
tuckered out from all the candy she ate. She just went and got a
pillow and laid down on the floor in the middle of us. But her
legs are moving so fast that they are just a blur. Poor thing!
2/8/08
- Happy February! Can you believe
that we've already spent a month of this new year! Amazing.
Well, we were supposed to be leaving for Tucson today for the
bead shows down there. However, we decided to save the money and
the time and not go. My main justification for going was to spend
my gift certificates to buy glass from Frantz. However, I called
them to see if they would accept my gift certificates in Tucson, and
they won't. ARRRGGGHHH! Oh well, saved me some money I
guess!
- I'm currently in the process of applying
for the shows I plan on doing this year. I just found out that I
was accepted into the Santa Fe show I applied for. Yay!!! My
computer is acting up and my cd burner is not working correctly so I've
not been able to burn discs to apply for the other shows. I have
an appt with Apple this afternoon to have it looked at. Hopefully
it will get fixed and I can submit the rest of my applications on
Saturday. Check out my schedule page to see what I am planning for the year.
- Christina's taking classes on Tuesdays
and Thursdays this semester. So I'm babysitting Amara on those
days from 3-8 pm. Yesterday she fell in the kitchen and banged
her head on a cabinet door. Now she has a bruise on her forehead.
I hate it when she gets hurt, especially when she is in my care.
- I'm also working part time with my friend
Leslie. She has cancer and a syndrome that has attacked her
nervous system and makes it difficult for her to get around. So I
go to her house in Placitas 4 - 5 days a week and help with cooking,
take her to appointments and keep her company. We read a lot.
You can check out her caring bridge page here.
- I've not been in the studio as much as I
would like. I have several orders to fill and I plan to get them
finished this weekend (since I'm not going to Tucson -- boo hoo!).
Also I plan to get busy taking pictures of everything and get it
posted into my etsy store.
- Oh yeah, big news! My brother James
is going to audition for NBC's Nashville Star on February 21st!
Woo Hoo! I hope he goes all the way. You can check
out his singing on Bix and SingSnap.
- Happy Friday everyone!
1/11/08
- Wow! 2008? A new year, a fresh start, new opportunities, new adventures...I don't know about you, but I am excited.
- I'm working on my schedule of shows,
classes and vacation for 2008. I'm sure I should have worked on
it months ago...but, better late than never! I have decided to
attend the bead shows in Tucson Arizona again this year. I'm
looking forward to meeting some of the other artists that I've only
talked to online. If I'm lucky I may be the new proud owner of a
Kimberly Seahorse and a Smiley Heart (hear's hoping, wishing and
praying!). Wayne is planning on going with me. You can
check out my schedule on the Schedule page.
- I'm still working on orders from
December, but I hope to have those completed sometime next week.
A couple of orders for beads and an order for a charm
bracelet.
- Since I redesigned my web-site last year,
I did not repost the information about my charities. I give 20%
of every sale to help homeless and run-away youth and single moms in
New Mexico. Thanks to my fantastic customers I was able to help
support a single mom and provide new bedding for the local teen shelter
in Albuquerque! Thank you all for your support! I hope you
enjoyed my creations as much as I enjoyed creating them.

12/29/07
- Christmas the day is over, but Christmas is not quite over. We
still have another Christmas at Wayne's folk's in Carlsbad. We'll be
going down there next weekend to celebrate with them.
- Christmas
was pretty quiet for us this year. Christmas Eve Christina and Amara
came over, had dinner and opened presents. Then Christmas morning
Wayne and I opened our presents to each other and the presents from my
mom and brother that were sent from Idaho. We spent the rest of the
day sitting around watching tv. I started working on a crocheted lap
blanket in a stitch that I've been meaning to learn. I forgot that
someone had given me the pattern until I was cleaning out one of the
drawers in my studio on Friday. Anyway, we had leftovers and watched
re-runs all day. I don't think I've sat that still in ages. My hips
actually hurt from sitting for so long! LOL!
- Amara got a new
crib for Christmas. So Wayne and I went over to her place today to set
it up. The crib she was in was a very small one made more for a new
born and she has begun to escape from it. So, this new regular size
crib is just in time.
- New Years plan are the same as last year.
Wayne's work, GPS, is taking us all to Tamaya Resort for their
New Year's bash. Great food and entertainment by the Pink
Flamingos. We had a great time last year and we are looking
forward to it again. Last year there was 2 feet of snow on the
ground so we stayed inside. But this year they guys are going to
golf and maybe we'll go for a horese back ride. I'm going to get
a message which I really need. My neck and shoulders are very
tight from all the crocheting I've been doing.
- And, amazingly enough, I have finally listed some finished pieces in my etsy shop!
- Happy new year to all and I pray that 2008 brings you hope and joy!

12/8/07
- I love the weeks leading up to Christmas.
There is so much to do and all you can think about is, "okay,
what's my highest priority today?" I make lists and eventually
get everything done in the nic of time. Then suddenly Christmas
day is here and I realize that there are some many things that I should
have done and never got around to. Like slow down and enjoy each
moment. Well, I'm trying to do that this year. I no longer
feel the need to do everything perfectly. In fact, each year I
realize more and more
that I am so far from perfect that I don't even have it in my power to
come close to perfect! Ha! It is fun trying though!
- I have one more art fair this year. It's
the first annual Arty Party tomorrow (Sunday) at the Marriott Uptown
with about 14 other artists. We are going to have a silent
auction with the proceeds to benefit the Ronald McDonald house.
It runs 11:00am - 4:00pm. Since I had a show yesterday and
today at Calvary Chapel, I just left everything on their displays,
boxed them up and now tomorrow I just have to pull the displays out of
the box and tada! I'm set up. Okay, it's a little more
complicated than that.
- My next priority is to get all the presents for
friends and family into the post to Idaho and Washington. And, I
have orders to fill for Made in the Shade for Christmas, so I'll work
on those too.
- And here's a cute little picture of Amara:
11/29/07
- I had a brief (2 days) stint on the satelite
internet. BLECH!!! so very slow. It's hard to go slow
once you've gone fast. So, I'm back on the cable connection.
- Things are busy here. I have 3 shows
coming up within the next 2 weeks. Plus I am trying to get ready
for Christmas and complete all the special orders I have for customers
for Christmas.
- Life is good. I hope to have some more
time to post updates during the Christmas break. Keep it real,
love one another and spread peace and joy!
11/19/07
11/10/07
- Every once in a while I would like to share
with you some spiritual thoughts or insites that I've had in my own
life. They tend to be a little long and some folks may not be
interested in that part of my life. So, I've created a seperate
page for that. I'll let you know about it here and provide a link
when I add something new. If you would like, you can read my thoughts
this morning on this page.
10/28/07
- It's a beautiful, sunny day in Albuquerque.
It's 71 degrees today. However, we are high desert so the
nights are very cold. We picked all the green tomatoes last week
because it was freezing every night. We had quite the
crop...about 75! Now they are sitting on my island ripening.
How many bacon and tomato sandwiches can one family eat?
- I had a show yesterday in Los Alamos New
Mexico. It's a very pretty little town. We drove the camper
up on Friday after Wayne got off work and we camped in the parking lot
of the middle school where the show was to be held. It's always
interesting setting up for a show that I've never done before (that's
all of them since this is my first year doing shows!). The space
was only 6'x8' so we had to come up with some structure that was small
enough for that space. Wayne bought PVC and we constructed a very
rickety booth. It's a good thing that I was on the outside wall
of the room because the booth wouldn't have stood up by itself without
the duct tape we used to tape it to the cafeteria wall. LOL!
You live and learn. Wayne thinks that the booth mom gave me
could be modified to be smaller than its 10'x10' size.
- There was a good stream of customers and
lookers most of the day and I would say it was a success! At the
end of the day our biggest worry was getting the truck started.
We found out on Friday that our glow plugs were not functioning
correctly (essential for a diesel engine in cold weather). Our
mechanic did not have time to fix them before we left, but suggest
start and spray and we did have to use it on Saturday to get the truck
started. One more thing that we will need to get fixed. We
were going to go back home through the Jemez mountains and camp out on
Saturday night. However, with the glow plug issue we decided to
come on home and not face that headache. So, today it's
football, laundry, baking and relaxing! Life is good, we
definetly have it "Made in the Shade!"
- Be sure to check out my schedule page to see
where I will be showing next! Thanks to all the new friends and
customers I made in Los Alamos. I hope to see you again soon!
10/9/07
- Well, it froze here the last two nights in a
row. I went out in the evening and it sure was chilly. I
checked the thermometer and it was already down to 42 degrees at
8:00pm. I threw some sheets over the garden. I'm not sure
how much longer it will last. It's a shame as we have a ton of
tomatoes just waiting to turn red. I'm not sure why they've taken
so long this year. They came on like gang busters but just
haven't turned red. We've had a few and they've been delicious!
Maybe I'll just pick all the green ones before they all
freeze. That's what Grandma Jones does and then she puts them in
a card board box in a dark place and they turn red. Or, I could
have everyone over for a fried green tomato party!
- It's balloon fiesta season (the first 2
weekends in October). It's great. Every morning around 7am
for about 2 hours hundreds of hot air balloons take off from the fiesta
grounds just East of our house. Somedays they just float right
over the house. My mom loves to come down from Idaho for this
event and she will be arriving tomorrow night! She's so excited,
she can't hardly stand it. Probably more to see Amara than the
balloons this year. She hasn't seen her since Christmas and she's
grown so much since then.
- We've decided not to do the North Valley Art
Fair this year. We usually have it at my friend Jan's house, but
she's going to be out of town. We looked around for another place
to have it, but time is running short and we were running into a lot of
red tape. Plus it wouldn't be the same if we held it somewhere
else.
9/29/07
- Today I had a show at Market Days in the North
Valley. We had a lot of wind and a slow day. But, overall
it was a good day. I was supposed to show there on Sunday as
well, but with the wind forecasts the same tomorrow as they were today,
everyone decided to cancel. If you were planning on coming to see
me there, just give me a call and I will be happy to give a private
showing in my home studio. 505.730.0556.
- When I got home and checked my mailbox I had my
acceptance letter for the art show in Los Alamos on October 27.
Yeah! I've never been to Los Alamos, but I've heard it's
pretty there.
- I'm still waiting to hear if I've been accepted into the La Cueva art fair and the art fair at Grace Church.
- All is going well here. Amara is now 13
months old and she took her first unassisted steps on her own
yesterday. She got so excited that she squealed and sat down.
I call her Grandma's little pop tart.
- Mom will be coming for a visit in a week for
the balloon fiesta and to see little miss Amara of course. We
will be celebrating Mom's birthday on Saturday the 13th with a
breakfast party and a viewing of the hot air balloons from our back
yard. We are in the heart of the North Valley and the balloons
usually fly right over the house.
9/19/07
- I now have my photo editing software reloaded. Here are some of Amara's 1st birthday party. Isn't she a cutey!
9/12/07
- Wow! What a month. I don't have
time for a detailed update (maybe later), but I just wanted to pop in
and let you know that I've had several changes to my schedule. I
will have a booth at a special event put on by the New Mexico Bead
Society and the New Mexico Bead Trader. On Monday, September 24 please stop by the New Mexico Bead Trader in Bernalillo (main drag,
East side of the river) to see my beads and jewelry. This special
event will run from 6:30 pm through 8:00 pm. There will be door
prizes as well as many other jewelers selling their creations.
Come on out and get a jump start on your gift shopping.
- Also, I will have a booth at the Market Day on North Fourth Street on September 29 and 30. This one is located at the Vintage and More Antique Shop on Fourth Street just south of Ranchitos.
- Another bit of news. I gave up my space
at the Turquoise Trail Gallery. Thanks to everyone who visited me
there and supported my art. I have created a gallery space in my
home studio. I will be selling my beads and jewelry at my home
gallery for now. You can call me anytime (day light hours) for a
personal tour!
- My hard drive died last week. I'm just
now getting all my programs reloaded. I hope to start selling on
eBay again real soon.
8/15/07
- I'm going to try to do an update. I seem to have a fairly stable
and fast connection to the internet for the 1st time since I left
Albuquerque. Right now I'm parked in the service yard of Frontier
Rental waiting on parts for my steering column. The ignition
switch quit working last night. I was parked in the dump station
at Clyde Holiday State park just West of John Day Oregon on Hwy 26.
Another camper told me about Frontier Rental. I called them and
they came right out. Even after hours. Of course the truck
started right up for him. We made a date for the next morning to
have the truck looked at. So that's where I am camping tonight.
The steering column is in parts and pieces on the front seat and
we are waiting on a part that will be here tomorrow. I just need
to be back into Caldwell by Friday morning at the very latest.
- The
Soul Food Extravaganza was a fun event. I sold a few things and
got to hang out with Nancy and Mom and Wayne. Then Wayne and I
drove up to Cascade and camped out on the West side of the lake
for a couple of days. He flew home last Wednesday. That was
hard. I wanted to go home with him right then as I knew how much
I would miss him.
- Wednesday night I camped at Nancy's and Carson and Jocelyn came over and camped with me. We even had some duck visitors.
- Then
I drove up to Susie's on Thursday, stayed one night and then drove up
to Shelton Washington for the Annual Franz Bash. One of my
on-line friends hitched a ride with me from Vancouver Washington and we
hung out for the weekend. It was a lot of fun. I attended
all but one of the workshops. I missed Jen's workshop first thing
in the morning because I was in line buying glass. I really wanted to
see her too. I did catch the end where she was showing how to
blow shards and fuming. That was cool and I got to meet her and
see the bead that she demo'd. I watched Kimberly make one
of her seahorse beads. I took notes at all the workshops.
- Sunday
morning we pulled up camp and headed South. I dropped Alysa off
at her car in Vancouver and I went back to Susie's to camp out for a
couple of days. Monday I spent the day writing and I made a few
jewelry pieces. I layed in the hammock and took a nap. I
guess I should call it Susie and Mark's now that she is married. They seem so happy and he seems
like a really great guy. I love what they've done with the house.
The front room is now a music jam room. Way cool!
- I
left Susie and Mark's on Tuesday morning, went by America's Tire to get
my 4th tire...Oh yeah, I didn't tell you that I had to buy 4 new tires.
On the way up to Susie's on Thursday another motorist flagged me
down and let me know that I had a large bubble on my driver's side rear
tire. That was in Baker City Oregon. They had a used tire
that matched me tires and they put that on (for a fee). Then when
I went up to Susie and Mark's I called around to see if I could get a
new tire and I found that America's Tire could get one in that day.
They checked out my other tires and they are all breaking down.
So, rather than worry, Wayne wanted me to just get them.
- Anyway, I picked up my 4th tire and headed back to Idaho. I decided to take
hwy 26 because the winds were so bad through the gorge on my way West
that I just didn't want to do that again. Hwy 26 goes South East
out past Mt hood. The road looks a lot different than it used to.
But, I remember traveling this way with my Grandma and Grandpa
Ferguson. It has been a pretty drive. Now I'm stuck here,
but that's okay. It's caused me to slow down and do some writing
that I've been meaning to do. And I'll count it as my vacation.
The vacation end of the trip got cancelled, so I will be
returning home after I do the show in McCall this weekend. I
should just make it in time for Amara's 1st birthday party.

- Today was my first day this week to really sit down in the studio
and create anything I desire (those are my favorite sessions!)
However, we leave a week from yesterday and drive to Idaho, my
first show is at the Soul Food Extravaganza in Boise Idaho (Julia Davis
Park). If you're in Idaho, come hang out! There will be
good music, good food, good company and some outstanding glass art!
(hey, I have to say that; I'm the artist!) Anyway, that's
August 4, Julia Davis Park, Boise Idaho. Be there or be uncool.
LOL
- I only have a sec so that's today's update!
Here's our truck and camper that we will be driving to Idaho and
that I will be living in for the next month. Home sweet Home!

- This has been a slow week and a busy week.
Slow because anything is slower than the pace I was going last
week in order the get ready for the New Mexico Bead Society Wild About
Beads workshops last Saturday. Those went great! I learned
a lot and met a whole room full of great beaders! And, it's been
a busy week because now I'm gearing up for our trip to Idaho.
Check out my schedule page for all the things I'm doing and places I'm going in August.
We took the truck back into the shop because it was making
clanking noises at the U-joints...Argh!...and it's not always engaging
the gears when you shift into them...double Argh!!...I spoke with them
yesterday and they said, "yes, you are in the early stages of
transmission failure and yes, you need new U-joints." Interesting.
You don't even want to know the money that we've already spent
in order to bring this part of the business on board (staying in your
own camper "home away from home" while running to and doing shows).
Now, they are working on the estimate but it won't be cheap.
So, do I call the guy and say he sold us a lemon and we want our
money back, plus what we've put into it? Or, do I call the guy
and say he sold us a lemon and ask for him to give use some of our
money back or pay half of the repair costs? Or, don't even call
the guy, just make the repairs and enjoy my home away from home?
I really don't like confrontation, so the last option works
really well for me. However, I know that I need to ask for what I
want sometimes. Triple Argh!!!
- I've been working on a set of square tabs with
raku striping for a weaver in Santa Fe. She requested them at the
Angel Fire Arts Fair. Raku is so hard to work into the colors and
patterns you want. The first set of beads all busted. The
next set didn't break, but they were all the wrong color...a pretty
color, but still the wrong color, the next set broke and were the wrong
color. I went back through all my books and my notes to see if I
had anything on working this beautiful color. Aha! Don't
use so much raku...a little goes a long way. And, use more of the
black and the clear. The beads are looking much better now!
Thanks for all the tips from the Lampwork Etc. Community!

- "I have good news and bad news" says the
tech support guy. "The good news is we can restore your blog
page from Thursday morning. The bad news it will cost you
over $150 to restore." So, now you have good news and bad news.
"The good news is this page will load so much faster without
all of those old photos on it. The bad news is you can't read
about all of my so exciting day to day adventures." Tee hee!
And for me, I get to write all new stuff! I just love
computers!
- Anywho! We just got back from
the Angel Fire Art Fair (late last night). This was my first
juried art fair and it was a wonderful experience! The
facility and surroundings were beautiful. The coordinators
were kind and helpful. The other artists were interesting and
so kind! And, we had good sales (do I talk about that in my
blog? or is that taboo? - Oh well). It was a great show.
Also, we stayed at the Monte
Verde RV Park. Maria and Lynn were so warm and
welcoming. They truly made our stay so enjoyable.
The even coordinated a ride for us with some other
campers/artists to help us get back and forth to the event without
having to unplug every day. Thanks Maria and Lynn!
We'll be back, probably in September sometime. And
a BIG Thank You to Mary Beth and her husband Paul who taxied us back
and forth to the Art Fair.
- We took a few pictures. Angel
Fire is a really beautiful place.
